50 years of the Human Rights Covenants and a website to celebrate

This year we are celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the Human Rights Covenants. These two covenants are the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR) and the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (ICESCR).

As part of the celebrations, a special website has been launched: http://2covenants.ohchr.org. You can go to this site to learn more on the history of the covenants and their content (through easy to understand guides). Pocket-sized guides on the Covenants and the various rights that they include can also be downloaded. An interactive part of the site is a quiz called Freedom at stake which places you in real situations of human rights violations handled by the committee, and leaves you in the position to respond to the scenario.

Finally, the website features films of the real-life implications of the Covenant for people around the world.
